Grafton Wood 15th August 2024
Grafton Wood is a 56 hectare reserve jointly owned by Butterfly Conservation and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust; it has SSSI status. It is located between Worcester and Stratford-upon-Avon in Worcestershire.
This Field Meeting was timed to coincide with the appearance of Brown Hairstreak Butterflies that are present on this Reserve. No Brown Hairstreaks seen (we came close!), but other butterfly species including Purple Hairstreaks and Wood Whites plus a Painted Lady were present.
Weather dry, warm, but overcast with the threat of rain. Butterfly numbers disappointing.
