Bonsai Bank 19th May 2023
Bonsai Bank is an area of flower-rich chalk grassland situated in Denge Wood, which lies between Ashford and Canterbury in Kent.
It is an excellent site for Lady Orchids, Fly Orchids and White Helleborines as well as the more common types of orchid such as Twayblades, Common Spotted Orchids, etc. It is also an excellent area for butterflies, moths and other insects including Duke of Burgundy and the very illusive White Spotted Sable Moth.
The visit was led by Duncan Locke, who with three other Nature Group Members spent most of the day in excellent weather at Bonsai Bank and a selection of their orchid and insect images is shown here.
