Buckholt Wood is part of the Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods National Nature Reserve. This NNR was established in 1981 as an internationally important area, which includes some of Britain’s best Beechwoods and limestone grasslands. Buckholt Wood lies to the north of Cranham Village and covers an area of 100 hectares (247 acres). Natural England state that ‘Buckholt Wood is especially noted for being home to over 780 species of fungi.’
Eight Group Members attended this Field Meeting. Unfortunately, there were fewer obvious fungi than in previous years, but plenty of small stuff once you got your eye in. Weather was dry with sunny intervals.
