Prestbury Hill 28th June 2025
Prestbury Hill is a 31 hectare Butterfly Conservation Reserve, consisting of two areas of limestone grassland, high on the Cotswold scarp slope, east of Cheltenham. Most of the reserve area is unimproved limestone grassland with abundant herb-rich flora and associated wildlife.
This Field Meeting was timed to coincide with the expected peak of the Marble White Butterflies that are normally abundant on this Reserve.
The weather was overcast early on, becoming hot sunshine later. It is an exposed site and there was a very strong and gusty wind affecting the upper parts of the Reserve.
